Hello!

WELCOME TO THE MID-WESTERN RODEO WEBSITE!
Welcome, and thanks for taking the time to read this. The Mid-Western Rodeo has now officially been going strong for over a half century! I can't help but look forward with anticipation to getting started on our next 50 years. I feel that, with the support we receive from the Manawa Lions Club, its members, and countless volunteers from the community, this is a very real possibility. We feel the Mid-Western Rodeo is one of the finest in the Great Lakes Circuit, and we're not alone. In the last ten years the PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association) cowboys have twice voted us the best medium outdoor rodeo of the year and the women of the WPRA (Women's Professional Rodeo Association) have extended us this honor five times with their Justin best footing award. I would like to extend an invitation to all who read this, to come and see some of the best professional rodeo in America. Our rodeo is sanctioned by both the PRCA and the WPRA. This makes Manawa one of the brief stops along the highway leading to the Superbowl of rodeo, the WNFR (Wrangler National Finals Rodeo) held the first week in December in Las Vegas, Nevada. The WNFR's 10-day competition is where the top 15 in each event compete for the coveted title of "World Champion".
As you may or may not know, the Lions Club raises money for community programs (over $26,000.00 paid out this year) State programs (the Wisconsin Lions Foundation or Lions Camp) and of course our national and international programs such as Sight First and our newest venue Diabetes Screening. Saturday night at the rodeo also has become a little different--you'll notice the contestants decked out in pink! We encourage all of our fans to wear pink as well, and we refer to it as "Tough Enough to Wear Pink". The idea behind it is raise awareness and money for Breast Cancer research and treatment. So not only are we proud of our rodeo, we're very proud of what we do with the money raised.
Each year over 13,000 people (ten times the population of Manawa) offend their families, miss reunions, and give up picnics just to attend our rodeo over the 4th of July. To all these people we say THANK YOU! To all those reading this for the first time, who can't imagine why they would do such a thing, here's the deal: By purchasing a rodeo ticket, not only do you help those less fortunate than yourself, you will be entertained with 2 1/2 hours of the finest rodeo action available.
